The Disability Support Service Office & Deaf/Hard of Hearing Department (DSSO & D/HH) assists students with physical, learning, or emotional disabilities in developing independence and self-reliance.
Students with Disabilities are urged to contact the DSSO at least 30-60 days prior to the first day of class. Students are required to provide documentation of their disabilities in order to obtain the following services:
- Placement testing with reasonable accommodation, if needed.
- Referral to agencies such as the Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS), formally Texas Retaliation Services (TRC), Texas Commission for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (TCDHH), Texas Commission for the Blind (TCB), Mental Health mental Retardation Agency of Harris County (MHMRA)), etc.
- Textbooks on tape from Reading for the Blind and Dyslexic (RFB&D)
- Specialized adaptive equipment to address specific disabilities
- EZ Access Lab available for students with disabilities and those who require adaptive computer equipment, JBW #111.
- Financial Aid Associate available in the Disability Support and Deaf/Hard of Hearing Department for students with disabilities.
