The Disability Support Service Office & Deaf/Hard of Hearing
Department (DSSO & D/HH) assists students with physical, learning, or emotional
disabilities in developing independence and self-reliance.
Students with Disabilities are urged to contact the DSSO at least 30-60 days
prior to the first day of class. Students are required to provide documentation
of their disabilities in order to obtain the following services:
Placement testing with reasonable accommodation, if needed.
Referral to agencies such as the Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative
Services (DARS), formally Texas Retaliation Services (TRC), Texas Commission for
the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (TCDHH), Texas Commission for the Blind (TCB), Mental
Health mental Retardation Agency of Harris County (MHMRA)), etc.
Textbooks on tape from Reading for the Blind and Dyslexic (RFB&D)
Specialized adaptive equipment to address specific disabilities
EZ Access Lab available for students with disabilities and those who require
adaptive computer equipment, JBW #111.
Financial Aid Associate available in the Disability Support and Deaf/Hard of
Hearing Department for students with disabilities.
Our goal is to ensure that students with disabilities get off to a good start
and have the support necessary for them to succeed. Whether you are a student
with a disability, or a faculty member working with our students, we look
forward to assisting you. We are committed to compliance with the Americans with
Disabilities Act (ACT) and The Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 504).
