Selecting a career in costume design can be the right choice for you if you desire to create original garments for film, television, or live theater such as opera, ballet, musicals, or drama.

What kind of degree can I earn?
An Associate in Applied Science Degree is available as a Theatrical Costume Design specialization under the Fashion Design Program. The program also offers certificates in Theatrical Costume Design and Theatrical Costume Crafts.
How long will it take me to complete this program?
The Theatrical Costume Design program is a five-semester program. If you do not need developmental course work and you register for 14-15 credit hours during the summer semester, you can complete the degree in two years. The Theatrical Costume Design Certificate programs (Theatrical Costume Design Certificate and Theatrical Costume Crafts Certificate) take one to three semesters to complete.
Are there any requirements I must satisfy before I start taking courses?
You must either have a high school diploma or have passed an equivalency examination.
What will I be able to do when I complete this program?
The Theatrical Costume Design Program provides training required for entry-level employment in a costume workshop for life theater, film, or television
What kind of salary can I expect?
Typically, Costume Designers may expect starting salaries in the range of $21,500 to $31,000.
