Why should I choose Interior Design as a career?
Selecting a career in interior design can be the right choice for you if you desire to be in a creative field that combines artistic abilities with technical knowledge and skills. Design and industry professionals hire our graduates because of the versatile educational backgrounds and technical skills received. The program combines design theory along with the more practical aspects of interior design practice.
What kind of degree can I earn?
An Associate in Applied Science Degree is available through the interior design program. The degree is recognized by the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners as partial compliance of the educational requirement of title registration for interior design.
How long will it take me to complete this program?
The Interior Design Program is a six semester program. If you do not need developmental course work and you register for 15 credit hours during the Fall and Spring semester, along with 6 credit hours each for the two summer semesters; you can complete the degree in two years.
Are there any requirements I must satisfy before I start taking courses?
Students are considered college ready after taking a mandatory Texas Success Initiative assessment test. Students must also meet any course prerequisites.
What will I be able to do when I complete this program?
Our graduates are employed in a wide variety of interior design-related positions. Some of the specialty areas are: Home Furnishing Stoes, Wall Covering Stones, Retail Establishments, Wholesale Showrooms, Interior Design Studios, Office Dealerships, Model Home Designs, Design Assistants, Medical Facilities Design, Residential Design Trade Showrooms, and Manufacturer's Representatives.
What kind of salary can I expect?
Typically, interior designers may expect starting salaries in the range of $18,000 to $30,000.
